It’s 4:00 am and the alarm goes off! I get up, go down stairs to the kitchen and brew a cup of coffee. As the coffee brews, I begin to make the day’s lunches for me and my son. Then it’s time for the coffee. As I drink my coffee, I continue with my routine…

I open up my WHOOP app and see some metrics, which surprisingly, at 4:10 in the morning, are pretty good! Next, I go and wake up my dog for his morning walk. Every morning he gives me that look of “you realize it’s the middle of the night, right?” But with little resistance, he goes to the door so we can go out for our walk. After we get back to the house, he just goes straight back to his like nothing happened. This is usually where I start thinking that a dog’s life isn’t too shabby!

But now, it’s time to hop in the car to make the drive to the gym. Depending on the time of year, I’m either waiting for the car to cool down or heat up. We’re getting to the heat up period on the calendar! And in New England, the heat up period can last a long time, but I digress!

I have to get there in time to set things up for the first team workout which often begins at 6:00am. Once there, my staff and I are working to set up equipment to make sure the workouts are done efficiently to get our athletes through their training programs on time and make sure they are out the door to win the rest of their day. After that group leaves we continue on with the next group, and on, and on…you get the picture! And then, after the day ends and my head hits the pillow, the alarm goes off at 4:00 am again.

I’ve been looking into starting this blog for quite sometime. I’ve been reading some blogs about starting a blog recently. How ironic is THAT? But, one of the common themes that were written was that you have to just start. Don’t worry…your first post will not be your best, but make sure it’s not your last! So here it is, my first post! This is the first brick to be put in place. One of my goals with this blog is to discuss all areas of strength and conditioning. That can include everything from equipment, to programming, to supplements, and everything in between. I’ve been coaching for almost 30 years, so I humbly say that I might know a thing or two about that stuff. So with all that, I look forward to seeing where this will go. Win The Day!
